(June 10, 2015) … I have been rather lucky when it comes to my cellar, I have inventory some cellars that have dozens of leaky bottles, but my luck seems to be holding as I have seen very few in my own cellar (and as I type this with my right hand I am knocking on wood with the left). Today was the exception as the leaky cork on this bottle forced me to take notice and open it … Aromas were of dried plum (prune), fig, and dried cherry; palate follows in lock-step with the nose. It was an interestingly odd, smooth, and drinkable wine, still with a nice balance of acidity and just a touch of sweet cedar on the finish. Gotta love these old Italian wines with character.
