(January 18, 2017) … I opened up an ageing-box (a mixed case of wines I lie down), found this Rosemount wine and immediately cracked the cap. I remember this wine as a gorgeous bit of GSM magic, and picking it up at 20% off at a smaller retail location that may not have realized the liquid gold they were sitting on. Now we’re a decade from vintage date and maybe 7 years from my last tasting … What I found was plenty of black fruits remained intact along with pepper and a healthy dollop of plum … Finish stuck mainly to smoky black cherry along with vanilla and cinnamon notes. As time wore on the wine muted and dulled a little but that initial hour (or so) brought me back.
