For me, &#8220;chosen land&#8221; fits best. This is single vineyard Sangiovese from a special part of Chianti known as Rufina.<\/p>\n<p>Rufina decided they wanted to follow the rules of Gran Selezione along with Chianti Classico &#8211; but they went one step further, making their wines 100% Sangiovese from a &#8216;cru&#8217; (single vineyard \/ single plot) &ndash; which <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-7059\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Terra2a.png\" alt=\"Terra2a\" style=\"margin-right: 7px; float: left;\" width=\"150\" height=\"249\" \/>is named right on the bottle. What we, as consumers, end up with, are a plethora of great wines that are also affordable, that shows off the diversity, the beauty, and passion of the winemakers from this area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tonight, a dinner accompanied these wines, paired not only with food, but put up against one another: two wines per course, I rated the best wine presented and gave it a review.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">_______________________________<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-7060\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Terra15a.png\" alt=\"Terra15a\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" width=\"300\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Terra15a.png 300w, https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Terra15a-288x300.png 288w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Colognole<\/strong> <span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">(wins between the first two wines)<\/span>: <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-7061\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Terra3a.png\" alt=\"Terra3a\" style=\"margin-left: 7px; float: right;\" width=\"140\" height=\"271\" \/><br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>2021 Vigneto Le Rogaie<\/strong><\/span> &#8230; Fruit forward, but with enough acidity and weight to make it drinkable with food and\/or on its own.&nbsp; (****)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Vinae Montae<\/strong> <br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>2021 Vigneto il Monte<\/strong><\/span>: An elegant wine that shows its dark fruit roots and spicy middle with good mocha and blackberry. Nice acid backbone.&nbsp; (****)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Marchesi Gondi<\/strong> <br \/><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">2020 Poggio Diamante<\/span><\/strong>: what a powerhouse wine, it&#8217;s a fist in a velvet glove. Dark fruit that leans bold and brilliant, a juicy core of pure fruity goodness backed by Sangiovese acidity. Total yum.&nbsp; (****+)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-7062\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Terra8a.png\" alt=\"Terra8a\" style=\"margin-right: 7px; float: left;\" width=\"140\" height=\"282\" \/>Grignano<\/strong> <br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>2021 Vigna Montefiesole<\/strong><\/span>: smooth and sexy, with creme de cassis, blackberry, good acidity and silky tannins.&nbsp; (****+)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Frescobaldi<\/strong> <br \/><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">2021 Vigna Montesodi<\/span><\/strong>: Mocha, smoky and black cherry &#8211; mouth filling fruit load with blackberry, black cherry and cassis. Tannins are silky and the acidity hides in the background until it is needed.&nbsp; (**** &frac12;)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Selvapiana<\/strong> <br \/><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>2020 Vigneto Erchi<\/strong><\/span>: This was a big fight with a wine from I Veroni, but the Selva finally wins the battle with a good freshness and spice, but there&rsquo;s also some balsamic-strawberry and cassis, mocha and subtle tannin &#8211; this is a delicious bottle of wine.
