As for the wines tasted at lunch &ndash; see reviews below:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><strong><em>DonnaFugata 2023 Rosa &#8211; Dolce &amp; Gabbana <br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-6844\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Donna_3a.png\" alt=\"Donna 3a\" style=\"margin-left: 7px; float: right;\" width=\"150\" height=\"151\" \/><\/em><\/strong><\/span><br \/>Let&rsquo;s forego the price and just talk about the wine: fresh and fruity, which is a good thing for a rose.&nbsp; <strong>(*** &frac12;)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><em><strong>DonnaFugata 2022 Anthilia<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>Grapefruit pulp and pith, nice acidity, pleasant floral component and there&rsquo;s nice length on the finish.&nbsp; <strong>(*** &frac12;+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>DonnaFugata 2021 Sedara<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>Smoky with notes of blackberry plus subtle tannins and a finish that doles out some cassis.&nbsp; <strong>(*** &frac12;+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>DonnaFugata 2020 Tancredi<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>Lots of dark fruit and mocha &ndash; a pleasing red.&nbsp; <strong>(*** &frac12;+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>DonnaFugata 2019 Mille e Una Notte<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>A thousand and one nights has a smooth, silky palate with mocha, black fruit, rugged tannins and a finish that goes on for days. This wine is made for the long haul. Keep some in the cellar for those Arabian movie nights.&nbsp; <strong>(****)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>DonnaFugata 2022 Ben Rye<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>Cereal note, along with honey and apricot, creamy and smooth across the palate with a lovely long finish.&nbsp; <strong>(****)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><em><strong>DonnaFugata 2019 Sparkling<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>Chardonnay \/ Pinot Noir &#8230; Acidity is a little muted, but the palate shows nice biscuity and Bosc pear with some pleasant citrus backing &#8211; more than I expected from a Sicilian bottle of bubbles.&nbsp; <strong>(*** &frac12;+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>DonnaFugata 2020 Mille e Una Notte<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/>The newer version of 1001 is approachable now, but has the stuffing to last years in the cellar: lots of dark cherry and cassis, while tannins coat the mouth.&nbsp; <strong>(****+)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-6845\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Donna_2a.png\" alt=\"Donna 2a\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" width=\"350\" height=\"126\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Donna_2a.png 350w, https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Donna_2a-300x108.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; (March 2024) &#8230; Jose Rallo, of Donnafugata, a Sicilian winery, came to town to host a lunch and kick off the launch of her new wines.
