{"id":6457,"date":"2023-10-17T22:54:24","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T22:54:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/17\/three-from-torres-spain-a-bonus-argentina\/"},"modified":"2023-10-17T22:54:24","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T22:54:24","slug":"three-from-torres-spain-a-bonus-argentina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/17\/three-from-torres-spain-a-bonus-argentina\/","title":{"rendered":"Three from Torres (Spain) + A Bonus (Argentina)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I found this lost review in a pile of reviews &#8230; thought it was worth posting &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>(March 20, 2021) &#8230;<\/strong><\/em> Tonight I decided to open up three wine from Torres, along with something else that was burning a hole in my palate to try.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>2001 Coronas<\/em><\/span> &#8230; Absolutely horrific.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-6455\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Torres_2.jpg\" alt=\"Torres Wines\" style=\"margin-left: 7px; float: right;\" width=\"160\" height=\"117\" \/><br \/>Totally undrinkable plonk. It&#8217;s a brown liquid, calling it forest floor would be kind and an upgrade.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>2001 Gran Sangre de Toro<\/em><\/span> &#8230; There is bricking around the edges, but it still has a nice color, it is a wine made with Grenache, Carinena &amp; Syrah. Certainly, it is old and earthy with slightly smoky notes, but there is a smoothness to it and maybe some dried fruit lingering in the background &#8211; 100% better than the Coronas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>2013 Purgatori<\/em><\/span> &#8230; Red and black fruit with hints of mocha and a good tannin structure &#8230; When first opened you really get the wood, but that dissipated as it remained open. By the hour mark we&#8217;re looking at a wine rich in dried raspberry &#8211; smoky &#8211; meaty &#8211; and dark cherry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-6456\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Torres_4.jpg\" alt=\"Clos de Los Siete\" style=\"margin-right: 7px; float: left;\" width=\"160\" height=\"167\" \/>2006 Clos de los Siete (Argentina)<\/em> <\/span>&#8230; This is a Michel Rolland wine. Sweet oak notes of vanilla smoke and definite tannin bite. Still very much alive, though I&#8217;ll have to wait till it opens a little bit to see where it goes. There&#8217;s a darkness to the fruit, but it&#8217;s slightly dried with a hint of burnt coffee and bittersweet chocolate.
