{"id":2567,"date":"2015-12-01T16:23:13","date_gmt":"2015-12-01T16:23:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/index.php\/2015\/12\/01\/taste-it-again-trius-peller-stoney\/"},"modified":"2026-03-13T03:55:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T03:55:54","slug":"taste-it-again-trius-peller-stoney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/index.php\/2015\/12\/01\/taste-it-again-trius-peller-stoney\/","title":{"rendered":"Taste it Again: Trius \/ Peller \/ Stoney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>(August 2, 2015) &#8230;<\/strong><\/em> Over at my brother&#8217;s house for dinner and as usual I have brought along a real mixed bag of wines from both Ontario and other parts &#8230; Here we&#8217;ll look at the four Ontario bottles:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-2566\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Trius_Red_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"float: right;\" width=\"150\" height=\"202\" \/>Starting with many an Ontarians perennial favourite, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Trius Red, from the 2007 vintage<\/strong><\/span> &#8230; The nose seems a little muted but the palate proved to be anything but, with its spicy red fruit and pepper notes, there&#8217;s also a fun, kinda creamy, sensation mid-palate. I followed this one up with an older <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Trius 2005 Red<\/strong><\/span>, the aromas here came thru with smoky dried cherry, once again it&#8217;s the palate that saves this one note nose: tannins and acidity still exist, and are the first to show themselves, then comes the dried red fruit and oaky finish with a white peppered-oak linger. Neither wine was considered outstanding, but neither would I class any as bad considering their age.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping it in the family I opened a <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">2007 Peller Estates Cabernet Franc Private Reserve<\/span><\/strong> &#8230; I have tried this recently and that earlier bottle was no fluke it&#8217;s still awesome (<a href=\"https:\/\/wp.michaelpinkuswinereview.com\/index.php\/2015\/04\/27\/taste-it-again-lost-found-super-bowl-super-tasting\/\" target=\"_blank\">you can find it amongst these bottles<\/a>).
