(June 22, 2018) … Starting off with this Prince Edward County via Niagara Closson Chase 2011 KJ Watson Pinot Noir on this two bottles open night … this has always been a pretty well made wine year after year at Closson and the ’11 fit the bill upon release and now 7 years later it seems to be doing quite well – nothing startling here: sour and red cherry, with hints of that typical Pinot earthiness; the palate comes off a little lean but it also has moments where there’s a welcome richness … an interesting dichotomy but I welcomed it.
