(July 20, 2020) … It’s been a long time since I’ve been on the road anywhere so the only way to get that “other country feeling” is to drink … and so in the middle of July I pulled out this bottle of Italian wine from Umani Ronchi that just so happens to be 13 years old. In its youth this was quite a fruity number and well-balanced, now we have leathery and smoky notes but there is still some dark fruit on the nose, while on the palate it’s quite cedary with cassis and dried blackberry – not my favorite wine I’ve tried this summer, but it was certainly good and managed to transport me back to Italy, if just for a little while.
