Pedroncelli 2007 Bushnell Vineyard Zinfandel (California)

(June 7, 2015) … I remember the first time I tried this wine was at the California Wine Fair held in Toronto … I was so impressed I put my hands on 6 bottles, sharing the other six with a colleague (it could only be bought by the case). Great depth of flavour, is what I remember most, and a price that seemed too good for words. Needless to say I enjoyed this wine a few times between now and then, but here we are 8 years from vintage and time to try it again. This is everything I want Zin to be: aromas are an intoxicating blend of plum, black cherry, cherry cola, Christmas spice, and cocoa; palate had a spiced plum, black pepper, vanilla, mocha-raspberry quality and a spicy finish with just the right balancing acidity … Made for a perfect pairing with the BBQ ribs, and the 14.9% alcohol was barely a factor.
